Life Lessons,

What NOT to Learn from Others

15:30 Sauniya 192 Comments

Having negativity around you can be a bit though and draining. Especially if you don't have a way to escape it. They say the people you spend the most time around affect who you are, so I thought instead of becoming a whiner and complaining about negative people I'd try and turn this into something positive.
I know the tittle is a little confusing but this post a really about what I've learned from others' mistakes.

Constant Complaints
It doesn't help. If anything, it will drain you and the people around you. If you don't like something change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude.

Blaming Others
If you never take responsibility for the part you play in something happening, you never acknowledge your mistakes. You can never learn from them, you can never change them. You'll go on doing the same things, getting the same results, finding new people to blame and never evolving.

Making Excuses
There could be hundred reasons why you don't want to do it now, but there are even more reasons why you should. Do not choose what's convenient for the moment but what's efficient. It's not about what you want now but what you are getting in the long term.

No Self Change
If you want something to change, you have to be willing to change yourself. Don't just wish for it and wait. The whole world is not going to adjust so you can get what you want.

Negative Attitude
Some people see the glass as half full, some as half empty and others are just happy to have a glass and something to drink. Your perspective affect the way you feel [Rach from R D's obsessions recently reminded me of this]. There is a good side to every situation, an opportunity with every challenge. It's up to you to find them.

What have you learned from others recently?

  12. Excellent points! I agree, although, I think there are many people who are not used to reflect on things they do and in result do not realise they are blaming others or that they are doing something wrong. It is sad, I think self reflection leads to change and making progress.

  19. Lovely post and quite inspiring. I've learnt a lot of others but one major thing I've learnt is that people tend to play victims and fault others for their problems and also mistakes in general. I try not to do that and simply accept the consequences of the choices I've made and full responsibility for my actions.

  35. What I've learned from others is to not sit around complaining while doing nothing to change the circumstances. There are people around me who do that constantly and it does nothing to benefit them. I definitely agree with you that learning from other people's mistakes is a great way to grow and improve ourselves.

I feel like seeing someone else act a certain way can make it a lot clearer of how you DON'T want to me. Like negative attitude is a big one for me, it can be really ugly and definitely something I want to stay away from!

  49. This is a really good post! I learn from the mistakes of others as well. I like the one on no self change. I take time to self reflect often. For me now, it isn't about what people see. It is about what I see. I know personally if I have changed certain things about myself. I am growing daily and I've started to take it upon myself to celebrate myself more.

I've had people in my life that I, unfortunately, had to distance myself from because they were very negative and no matter how optimistic I would try to be, it never changed their mood nor mindset and sometimes, it would affect my mood, too. Some people don’t realise that they can easily come out of a negative state but I think no one really does until something clicks in your mind & motivates you to change the way things are.
